A close look at the state budget

WANDONG and Beveridge primary schools are the big winners in the Victorian State Budget but beyond that it is fairly slim pickings for the region.
The Wandong primary school will receive $1.3 million for modernisation and upgrades existing school facilities. Work will be undertaken between now and 2020.
The budget has also set aside funding to acquire land for a new primary school for Beveridge in the Mandalay Estate. The Beveridge Primary School’s enrolment has grown from 50 to 243 students with more growth expected.
Mitchell Shire Council too, is looking forward to seeing what roads projects will be rolled out, and whether that money includes preliminary planning works announced earlier this year for the Kilmore-Wallan Bypass.
The answer to that would appear to be ‘not much’ as far as the bypass is concerned. No funding has been allocated in the 2017-18 financial year.
