LOCAL residents put on their dancing shoes last Saturday, May 6 to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s foundation.
Community member and starlight wish granter Ian McKenzie hosted the second annual Gala Dinner Dance at the Kilmore Memorial Hall.
Over the past 14 years, Mr McKenzie has been involved with Starlight as a wish granter, public speaker, fundraiser and adventure race team member but the gala event is one of the biggest fundraisers with 100 per cent of the proceeds raised going to the foundation.
This year’s event was a huge success. Attended by 223 people, the gala dinner raised more than $14,500 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Addressing the audience, Mr McKenzie explained the important role that the Starlight Children’s Foundation plays.
“The sad reality is every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia. For those diagnosed with a serious illness their lives are changed immediately, the impact and stress on the entire family is enormous,” Mr McKenzie said.
