KILMORE East born BlazeAid was recently recognised during Volunteer Week at award ceremony at Government House in Canberra.
BlazeAid volunteers were invited to attend the event by the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove and received a certificate for their service.
BlazeAid was founded by Rhonda and Kevin Butler following the Black Saturday Fires. It is a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia and natural disasters such as fires and floods.
Working in collaboration with the rural families, BlazeAid volunteers help to rebuild fences, structures, and often local communities that have been damaged or destroyed.
