LEADING anti-bullying advocate, Oscar Yildiz, is coming to Kilmore to talk on the links between bullying and suicide.
The free meeting at Kilmore Trackside is being held under the auspices of the Mitchell Shire Suicide Prevention Network and the Wesley Mission.
Spokesperson for the event organisers, Roger Fletcher, said that every day many children, adolescents and adults are suffering the pain of being bullied.
“It is estimated that one in five Australians are bullied and often scars don’t go away and the effects of bullying can be devastating to the victim, their family and friends,” Mr Fletcher said.
“We are organising this meeting to draw attention to this serious problem and to make people throughout the district aware of what can be done. Our guest speaker, Oscar Yildiz who is the CEO of Bully Zero will demonstrate the connection and consequences of bullying – which sadly in many cases is suicide,” Mr Fletcher added.
Bullying at all Levels will be held in the Golden Rein Room at Kilmore Trackside on Thursday July 13, commencing at 6.30pm.The evening is free, but as places are limited reservations should be made with Mr Fletcher via email at email@example.com. Light refreshments will be served. Read more in this week's NORTH CENTRAL REVIEW.
