New head at StMary's

ST Mary’s Parish School in Lancefield has welcomed a new principal, Ms Julie McDougall.
A former deputy at St Clement of Rome Parish School in Bulleen and Our Lady of the Way in Craigieburn, Mrs McDougall is keen to get to know the Lancefield community and work towards the best needs of the children.
“I am really looking forward to getting to know the children and families of St Mary’s , especially finding out what their hopes are for their children,” Ms McDougall said.
“I really value that sense of community a country school has. I come from Whittlesea and as a parent myself I really value that and hope as a principal I can promote that strong link between community, school and parish.”
While Ms McDougall has come from schools of more than 600 students, she is most keen to ensure getting to know the students and families from St Mary’s will build relationships that ensure they feel supported and promote strong relationships between school and parents.
One way she has been doing that has been encouraging the Discovery Learning programamong the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students at the school.
The program promotes learning through play across the grade levels with students constructing, building or making things with craft materials..
