THE former council chamber in Kilmore’s Old Town Hall has never looked so bright when over 60 ladies from the Red Hat Society descended on Penny’s Restaurant.
Penny’s has renamed the room the Grand Chamber Room and grand it was. The ladies in red hats and purple outfits were there celebrating the first anniversary of the Red Hats Society’s Kilmore branch – the Rubies and Pearls of Kilmore.
Rubies and Pearls was chartered on April 14, 2016, and has been led over the past year by Jan Childs, aka Queen Janesca.
The group has grown beyond all expectations since its first meeting at Walders Café.
Ladies from as far as Finley, Ballarat, the Morning Peninsula and Numurkah joined their Kilmore colleagues for lunch and conviviality.
The Red Hat Society was established in the United States 20 years ago and Australia, being the second largest charter will celebrate 16 years this year.
The Red Hat Society is an international society made up of women of all ages that supports women in their pursuit of fun, friendship, freedom, fitness and life fulfilment.
