Locals at vets rally

LOCAL veterans, Shane King and Tony Gill of the Military Brotherhood Motorcycle Club and the Wallan Commemorative Committee joined with over 400 veterans for a rally at the Melbourne offices of the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) offices last week.
The rally, organised by Michael Quinn of the Australian Peacekeeper and Peacemaker Veterans Association, was organised to call for a Royal Commission into the DVA.
Since 2001 there has been 325 veteran suicides most of who were denied the hand of professional and compassionate support that they so desperately needed.
Tony Gill, a Vietnam veteran, chairman of the Wallan Commemorative Committee and veteran welfare officer knows only too well the attitude and bureaucracy of the DVA and the Federal Government that must change to prevent further Veteran losses.
