SIGNS and footpath stickers are being placed around Wallan's town heart to show draft plans for an outdoor plaza, signalised pedestrian crossing linking the shops to Hadfield Park, and a new event space and car parking near the Free Library Hall.
The draft plans are part of the $4.09 million Wallan Town Heart revitalisation, which also includes new car parks near the Community Bank Adventure Playground; footpath, parking and road improvements to Wellington Street; safety improvements to the service road entry at Watson Street; and landscaping along the Northern Highway.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Cr Rhonda Sanderson said the signs would give the community a feel for what was planned to help them provide input to the drafts.
“It can be difficult to imagine how something will look on-site when you’re just looking at a hard copy plan or on a computer screen,” Cr Sanderson said.
“By having these detailed plans near the location of the projects, we hope the community will have a better understanding of what is planned so they can provide feedback and share their ideas, especially for the new outdoor plaza.”
Cr Sanderson thanked those who had provided feedback so far, and encouraged others to have their say.
“The Wallan Town Heart project is going to revitalise Wallan, making it more connected, safer and vibrant,” Cr Sanderson added.
“I encourage community members and businesses to have a good look at the plans and share their ideas for these new spaces as well as ways we can encourage people to shop with local traders during construction."
